Brooklyn Herbert is a certified exercise physiologist who recently graduated from the University of Indianapolis. Brooklyn has been training individuals for 2 years and specializes in cancer rehabilitation. Along with training, Brooklyn has completed a research exercise study with the University of Indianapolis on Breast Cancer Survivors and Dragon Boat Racing during her master’s degree work. She was selected to present her research at the National American College of Sports Medicine Meeting.

HOUR LONG SESSION: Karuna Precision Wellness Center provides individualized prescription exercise as part of the recovery from cancer treatment-related symptoms. Studies have demonstrated exercise to be an effective treatment for neuropathy, a common side effect of cancer treatment. Our trainer has been educated in exercise for cancer survivors and is ready to train each client based on their level of fitness. A typical session begins with cardiovascular exercise, followed by resistance training, balance activities, flexibility training, and stretching. Tools and equipment can be recommended for use at home to maximize the impact of your workout.

Through a virtual assessment or in-person assessment, an exercise prescription will be created based on your fitness level and ability. Clients work individually through virtual visits or in-person to reach goals.

SELF-GUIDED PACKAGE: Karuna Precision Wellness Center offers an individualized at-home, do-it-yourself exercise program. Through a virtual or in-person assessment, an at-home exercise program will be created for 2-3 sessions a week for a period of 4 weeks. Clients will work to complete these sessions on their own time. Clients will then meet back with Brooklyn, virtually or in-person, to discuss progress and where they are with their goals. Each subsequent month-long package will be altered to gain a higher level of fitness and help the client reach their fitness goals.

David is a licensed, board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in pain, trauma, sports medicine, and dermatology based in Bloomington, Indiana. He is passionate about exploring the pathways of the bodymind as they pertain to health, and their analogy to the greater world. Since 2010, David built his first private practice in New York City that grew into a highly sought after destination for pain management and patient care. He utilizes a unique blend of acupuncture and herbal strategies, rehabilitative Qi Gong practices, craniosacral therapy, and Tui Na (a medical massage and “bone setting” system incorporating highly effective diagnostic and therapeutic techniques) to give patients immediate and lasting results. David is fluent in English and Japanese. David is currently president of the Indiana Society of Acupuncturists.

Recent advances in acupuncture clinical research suggest that acupuncture may provide clinical benefit for cancer patients with treatment-related side effects such as nausea and vomiting, post-operative pain, cancer related pain, chemotherapy-induced leukopenia, post-chemotherapy fatigue, xerostomia, and possibly insomnia, anxiety, and quality of life.

Therapeutic Massage

With 10 years of experience in energy healing and bodywork, Natalie George has trained in many modalities to help clients on their journey to health and wholeness. In addition to Swedish massage, she incorporates Ortho-Bionomy, Lymph Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, and Energy Healing. These diverse techniques, combined with training in Oncology massage, allows Natalie to provide massage sessions tailored to the needs of the individual client. She can address your everyday aches and pains in addition to helping with chronic issues. Her BA in medical sociology helps her better understand the context for each person's medical history and the impact it has on their current physical challenges.

Massage promotes relaxation and boosts the body's production of endorphins which can help relieve stress, reduce pain levels and swelling, and loosen aching, tense muscles. A diagnosis of cancer often increases tension, anxiety, and depression. Regular massage can reduce these symptoms and help create a prolonged sense of well-being, improving a client's overall mood and quality of life. After recovery, it continues to help with anxiety over the possibility of recurrence and allows the healing process to continue. This service is available at Karuna Precision Wellness Center at the Indianapolis Healthplex on Guion Road.
